really interested in seeing how these look in motion. besides the obvious fealty to takeuchi’s original line, the influence of shinya hasegawa’s late ’90s design sensibility is strong here, and very few ‘toon crews have ever attempted to translate such a style to animation, not under the conditions japanese cartoons typically find themselves made.
i suppose that explains its unexplained delays and odd scheduling (twice a month, or: every other week, instead of the standard weekly pace) – at least, that’s my guess, and my hope.
because those character designs, put to movement by the attentions of a motivated staff, could be some of the most beautiful images put to the small screen – i want them to be. i don’t really have the time to waste on half-hearted art anymore, you know? but i guess we’ll see, when it starts, what kind of hero the staff – and the company behind them – wants this show to be.
