Quarterly Goals Winter 2017

Hey, all! So it’s been a while, but it’s the new year with new quarterly goals. Let’s recap and see how I did this last quarter (spoiler: it’s not going to be good).

1. Finish 2/3 of draft 1 of new MS

—Didn’t do this one. I’m probably about halfway through, but this is considering that I wrote 50K words during NaNoWriMo, deleted all of it after NaNo ended, then rewrote 35K in December. So, it’s a half win.

2. Put WIP information for new MS on my website, including first 3 chapters

—Didn’t do this one either. I’ve posted the first chapter here on Tumblr, but not on the website. Looking back, I probably won’t post the chapters and info on my website until I’m ready for the first round of beta readers.

3. Increase marketing for TMEO

—Eh. Have done a lot of word-of-mouth advertising, but not a lot on social media. Half win.

4. Hold a giveaway

—Pfft. No. Didn’t even come close to doing this. Sorry, guys. 😦

5. Retain exercise regimen

—More or less succeeded here.

6. Keep blood sugar under control

—Eh. Doing pretty good, but not as good as last quarter.

7. Keep skin care regimen

—I consider this one a win.

8. Retain my current weight (try to not lose any more weight)

—I lost about 3 more pounds this quarter, which may not sound like a lot, but it’s a big deal for me. Boo.

9. Start organizing edits and possible recruit call for beta readers for new MS

—I have started editing The Four Gods as I write and have been working on my recruiting call for beta readers and the questions involved, so this one is actually a win.

10. Finish knitting project and start new project

—Did this one. 🙂

So that’s 5 ½ out of 10? Not bad, but I think I can do better. My new quarterly goals are as follows:

1. Finish draft 1 of The Four Gods. Like, actually finish it. Also part of this goal: quit beating myself up over the MS. This is my dream project, so I’m being extra hard on myself over this, but the story just needs to be written.

2. Go through self-edits for entire TFG manuscript.

3. Be ready for first round of beta readers by the end of the quarter.

4. Post some more extras for The Moon-Eyed Ones and more extras for The Four Gods.

5. Be more active on social media.

6. Keep sleep schedule consistent.

7. Exercise 4 days per week at least.

8. Finish knitting project and begin next project.

9. Manage blood sugar better.

10. Maintain weight.

We’ll see how I do in March!
