Ainu (アィヌ・イタㇰ, Aynu itak) is a language isolate spoken by the Ainu ethnic group in the
Hokkaidō

island, north of Japan. Until the 20th century, dialects of Ainu were spoken in the Kuril Islands and the southern tip of the Kamchatka Peninsula (Russia).

Hokkaidō

Ainu is critically endangered.
