people call on the ‘science side of tumblr’ because generally scientists are eager lil nerds willing to help others

people don’t call on the history side of tumblr because all historians are – without fail – sarcastic angry assholes looking to start a fight

    HEY HOLD THE FUCK UP

You guys like mythological creatures, right?

A Book of Creatures is a brand new website which posts on a pretty regular basis – currently up to 14 entries since only mid-March – illustrating and describing some of the weirdest, most obscure mythical animals, races, fairies and goblins out there, with academic sources.

I’d never heard of ANY of these except for the Stymphalian birds.

Reblogging for AWESOME detailed drawings of fantastically obscure mythological creatures from all over the world. The author is drawing from primary and secondary sources in many different languages.

(full disclosure: I’m friends with the author and indeed was trying to help with some pretty unpleasant Latin for this project the other day)
