It’s been a while Instagram! So you’ve seen Silas’ miniature conversion from #themooneyedones to #dungeonsanddragons but in an attempt to break in my tablet again, I did this doodle of wild elf Silas, sporting his magic bow. Although I should be editing, I couldn’t resist trying out my detail work again. #characterdesign #wildelf #ranger #tabletopgaming #doodlesofinstagram
Nope! It’s not doing any harm, and if you like it, good on ya I guess. But i firmly believe that moodboards, open letters to characters, all the fun (I do it too! It is fun!) extra stuff is NOT writing and does NOT count as writing.
Again, it’s fun. I do it too. No shame in doing that kind of stuff. But saying “this is also writing” is something that kind of deeply irritates me because it fuels a bizarre romantic view of writing that I’ve never been a big fan of
10000% this ^^^^^^
The radio isn’t going to write your story. Sorry :-
everything about this… this statue, the choppy waves, the cliffs behind her, the echo, the drumming….. aesthetic
Lyrics in Faroese:
Trøllabundin eri eg eri eg Galdramaður festi meg festi meg Trøllabundin djúpt í míni sál í míni sál Í hjartanum logar brennandi bál brennandi bál
Trøllabundin eri eg eri eg Galdramaður festi meg festi meg Trøllabundin inn í hjartarót í hjartarót Eyga mítt festist har ið galdramaður stóð
English translation:
Spellbound am I, am I The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me Spellbound deep in my soul, in my soul In my heart burns a smouldering fire, smouldering fire
Spellbound am I, am I The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me Spellbound in my heart’s root, my heart’s root
Did anyone else just get the shivers? Cuz I’m definitely getting the shivers.
Btdubs, the singer is Eivør Pálsdóttir.
Reblogging again for the haunting wizard lyrics
shoutout to the faroe island for being the only real viking island left
I know the islands are owned by Denmark but this reminds me so much of Iceland
There’s a difference between needing and wanting. It’s fair to say that every piece of writing needs an editor. However, it’s up to the writer to determine if they want that.
For example:
Instances when you don’t want an editor:
You write for fun or a hobby.
You have no plans to publish.
You have plans to publish, but don’t care if your writing is successful.
You plan to traditional publish (and therefore get an editor through your publisher. However, some writers hire one before to up their chances of acceptance.)
Instances when you need an editor:
You want to make money off your writing.
You want to improve your skills as a writer.
You want your work to be the best it can be for your readers.
You are indie/self publishing.
There’s a big difference between “not wanting” an editor and thinking you “don’t need” one. One is personal preference, the other is arrogance. Not even queen JK Rowling goes without an editor. If you’re pursuing writing at a professional level and think you don’t need an editor, rethink your position.
Now, if you don’t want an editor, I agree. So what?? Not all writers want an editor. It’s expensive, takes a lot of time, and could be a heavy hit to your confidence. It’s completely valid and fine choice. You do you 👊💪
Writers are awesome, whether it’s a hobby or a career pursuit. But don’t you ever start thinking your writing wouldn’t benefit from a good editor.
